Dresses have been flying off the table at Fashion Pece’s this spring, so I’m working to make sure you continue to have plenty to choose from this spring and summer. This dress, from a pattern by Sofie Clareese Doll Fashions TM (available at Pixie Faire TM), has a shawl collar, pleated skirt, fully lined bodice, and a dress length Velcro brand closure for easy play.
I’m finalizing my summer calendar, and hope to release dates and locations soon. My next show at the CU Winter Farmer’s Market will be on Saturday, April 29, 2023. I hope to see you there!
Sometimes people ask me where I get the ideas for my outfits. I find ideas everywhere! I might get an idea from the catalogs that arrive in my mail. I take a photo, and store it in my phone for later use. Often, a trip through the fabric store inspires an outfit, which happened recently when I saw a sweet cotton fabric with a tiny octopus print and immediately thought I could sew up a skirt and pair it with a tee if I could find a little octopus to embroider. I love the little octopus I found at Embroidery Designs Online! Expect to see the octopus print in a jumper, too.
I frequently get ideas from the weekly classes I take at Sewing with Cinnamon (SWC). I belong to a few Facebook pages about sewing for dolls, and may see something to spark an idea. Sometimes I want to emulate an outfit that I see on a TV show. For example, last year, I was inspired by the fashions in Emily in Paris (and one of my SWC classes about embellishing outfits).
Inspired by Emily in Paris. The flowers are cut from lace and hand-sewn to the jacket.
In additon, you’ll see some of my own interests represented, like hiking, gardening, reading, writing poetry, etc. Of course I also get inspired by clients making special requests that challenge and grow my skills.
This special order replicates a young lady’s recital dress.
I always learn something about my venues, and create clothes specially made for the people/events in those locations.
These outfits were designed for Mahomet’s Soda Fest in 2022.
Finally, I also pay attention to what my clients are wearing. Yes, I should be adding more unicorns and rainbows to my collection. So you see? Ideas are everywhere.
Here’s a peek at some of the new tees coming off the machines at Fashion Pece’s. Aren’t they just the sweetest? The baseball tees are from a pattern by Liberty Jane Clothing TM found at Pixie Faire TM. These and other designs will be for sale on March 4 at Lincoln Square Mall between 8 am and noon.
Good afternoon! I’m writing to give you a heads up about a market change of date. I was originally scheduled to be at Lincoln Square this Saturday, February 25, but have moved that to March 4. The mall is hosting Read Across America on March 4, from 10 am – 1 pm, and I will be there from 8 am until 12 pm. My events calendar has been updated to reflect this change. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
I will have a number of reading themed t-shirts for sale, as well as Easter and spring themed items! And while you’re visitng Fashion Pece’s, check out my new stuffed animals. These stuffed animals wear the same sized clothes as the 18″ dolls, and come with a clothing allowance, so that you can choose how to dress them.
But, you can win them! I had fun digitizing this embroidery design from scratch, and not so much fun sewing all of the buttons on by hand*. I saw a similar shirt in a catalog, and realized that I wanted to replicate this holiday look for the dolls. To enter for a chance to win the outfit (shirt and leggings) for either the 18″ or 14″ doll size, please like this website post, and comment below about 1) why you like Fashion Pece’s doll clothes and 2) which size outfit you’d like to win. Then, if you haven’t already done so, please like my Facebook page. Once you’ve done all three of these things, I’ll assign you a number. I will use a random number generator to choose the winners and post the drawing on Facebook on December 22 and let you know if you’re a winner! Good luck!
*Due to small parts, these outfits are recommended for children older than 3.
You asked me for this, so I’m giving it a go! I will have a small (and I mean very small) collection of outfits that will fit 14″ and 14.5″ dolls like Wellie Wishers and Hearts 4 Hearts for sale at Lincoln Square this weekend. Below are a few pictures. Let’s see how it goes! The thing that most people don’t realize about smaller doll clothes is that the construction steps are exactly the same as sewing for the larger dolls, except that everything is done with tiny seams and hems. This requires meticulous pinning and sewing. Time-wise, there is very little difference between making clothes for the larger dolls and the smaller dolls. I do have a variety of patterns for these dolls, all from Pixie Faire, ‘natch, and look forward to the new designs available to me.
Fashion Pece’s will be setting up at Lincoln Square Mall in Urbana for the Champaign-Urbana Winter Farmer’s Market on December 17 from 8 am to noon. I’m writing to invite you to stop by to finish up that last minute Christmas shopping. Whether you are looking to buy a few wardrobe pieces to put under the tree for that new 18″ doll or updating the wardrobe of your child’s longtime friend, you’ll find some very well made, easy care clothes in my booth. I carry a selection of hard to find holiday themed clothing for the dolls, especially tees that pair up so nicely with the cutest little leggings and skirts. Please, stop by and say hello even if you don’t plan to shop: I love talking dolls and doll fashions with my customers!
If you’ve never been to the CU Winter Farmer’s Market, and are wondering how a farmer’s market gets that name in the winter, you’re in for a treat! Besides the remarkable selection of fresh foods like hydroponic greens (one of my favorites), mushrooms, meats, baked goods and herbs, you’ll find a variety of vendors who sell wonderful locally made items that would make fantastic gifts!
It’s always fun to shop at Fashion Pece’s. While I package some items as outfits, I specialize in separates. This means that a trip to the Fashion Pece’s booth involves coordinating pieces for your doll’s own special look. And, with bundle deals, an outfit is competitively priced. I enjoy helping kids and their adults choose their outfits, and genuinely look forward to this part of my events.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, I was set up in Atlanta, IL for their Holiday Market. What a fun two days! Christmas Spirit is infectious in Atlanta, and the town put on quite the show. I especially enjoyed seeing the kids dressed up for their visits with Santa, and the lights in the park. I plan to continue celebrating Christmas in Atlanta – both in July and November! Thank you to those of you who visited my booth as repeat customers and those of you who are enjoying my products for the first time. I’d like to give a special shout out to Whitney O. for taking such good care of her vendors. See you in July, Atlanta!
I’m excited to announce that I will have a booth at the Armstrong High School Spanish Class Harvest Festival. Students are putting on the event to raise money for the Spanish class trip. Come find me at the Potomac City Park on Saturday, October 29 between 10 am and 6 pm. I will be featuring Halloween wear sized just right for your 18″ doll, as well as some new wardrobe pieces. How cute is this striking new blouse made with the Forever 18 Inches pattern Twelve Month Tie Blouse (pattern is available at pixiefaire.com)? You’ll find a variety of sleeve styles, colors and button (ages 3+) and no button versions at my booth. Pair them with a modern bell slack with side closure, for a lovely office-ready look. There will be plenty of holiday and all occasion skirts available, as well as a large selection of doll-sized leggings.
Long Sleeved version of the Twelve Month Tie Blouse made with cotton vintage/upcycled fabric and paired with modern bell slacks with side closure. @thankyouJoyce
